Shine from the Inside Out! Discover the Beauty Within You.

“The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.” (Audrey Hepburn)

Am I beautiful? ... this is a fundamental question of many girls and women. What is beauty, anyway? It's a complex topic. Everyone has a different idea of what beauty is. Our culture, in which we grew up, largely determines our understanding of beauty. Nowadays, the media and fashion also play a significant role in determining what we consider beautiful and what we don't. As Audrey Hepburn said it so well: "No dictator in the world can tyrannize as many people as a successful fashion designer."

Here are some examples of how culture or media influence beauty ideals:

- In an Indian state, people greet each other with: "You look fresh and fat today!" and mean it as a compliment.

- In some African cultures, a particularly long neck or large earlobes are considered desirable.

- Years ago, the 12 "most beautiful" women in Hollywood were asked: "If you could change something about your face, what would it be and how many changes would you make?" The shortest wish list of the 12 so-called most beautiful women contained EIGHT changes! If these "super-beautiful" women have a problem with their appearance, what about us "normal" women? Why is the topic of beauty so important for women?

First and foremost, because we were created by God as the "beautiful" sex. God is beautiful, He loves beauty, and He creates beauty. As women, we reflect this attribute in a different way than men do. Beauty and femininity could be considered synonymous. Not being beautiful is a fundamental fear of women. How does this fear affect our self-image? If a woman finds herself attractive, she is satisfied with herself, and she radiates in self-confidence. However, if she sees herself as a "gray mouse," she is dissatisfied, both with her appearance and her personality. Then she sees herself more as Cinderella and not the potential of a radiant princess.

Just as Audrey Hepburn put it so well, "the beauty of a woman should be visible in her soul; that is true beauty."

Therefore, we must understand that our beauty is rooted in how God sees us. True beauty is always first an inner ATTITUDE of the heart, which is reflected in our outer appearance. The radiant woman from Proverbs 31 is a role model for all of us. How can this woman be so dignified and confident? Because she knows she is prepared. How does she prepare herself? The entire chapter shows that her inner and outer beauty is a deliberate, planned work. That means she has worked consciously on this attitude throughout her life.

"For your face at 20, you can't do anything, but for your face after 50, you are responsible," I once read somewhere. At the latest, from then on, our inner attitude will be reflected in our posture and facial lines.

Mark Twain also puts it aptly: "Wrinkles should merely indicate where the smiles have been!"

Understand that every woman is unique and valuable, regardless of her appearance. Her inner worth and inner beauty will also radiate outwardly, once she has understood that.

What can I do today to prepare myself, what can I start doing today to step out in dignity and strength? Does my face radiate this confidence?

Here are the practical steps to bring out your inner beauty:

♦Inner Beauty

1. Self-Reflection: Take time to think about your values, beliefs, and goals. What makes you unique? What are your strengths and weaknesses?

2. Self-Care: Take care of your physical and mental health. Eat well, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep.

3. Positive Self-Talk: Replace negative self-talk with positive and encouraging statements. You are valuable and lovable!

4. Gratitude: Practice gratitude by writing down three things you're thankful for each day.

♦Outer Appearance

4. Makeup: Wear makeup that makes you feel confident and attractive. Opt for natural colors and a subtle look.

♦Spiritual Beauty

1. Prayer: Pray regularly and talk to God about your concerns and joys.

2. Biblical Meditation: Read the Bible and meditate on scripture. Look for verses that encourage and inspire you.

3. Community: Seek community with other Christians who support and encourage you.
